Our experience at the hotel was unfortunately disappointing and did not meet the standards we would expect from a four-star property. On arrival, we were allocated an extremely basic room which looked very different from the rooms shown in the website photographs. It felt more like a youth hostel than a four-star hotel. The room lacked several basic features we would normally expect, including bedside tables, bedside lighting and a headboard, and there was only one pillow per person. Sadly, on closer inspection, the mattress had noticeable stains and the bathroom was not particularly clean. We requested an alternative room, but this took around an hour to arrange, as the night reception staff appeared to have difficulty using the booking system. The replacement room was an improvement, but still felt more in keeping with a three-star property. Among other issues, the wardrobe was broken and there were missing panels in the bathroom. We raised our concerns with the duty manager the following morning, but unfortunately felt that our concerns were not taken seriously. We were also told that the issues were essentially our responsibility because we had booked through a booking platform rather than directly with the hotel, and that we should have read the negative online reviews before booking. We found this response particularly disappointing and unhelpful. We generally like to support independent hotels. Unfortunately, we would not choose to return.

We had a lovely room with a huge bed. The staff were lovely very helpful. Parking very good but £12 a night. The breakfast is buffet but you can ask for alternative which wasn't a problem. All in all a nice hotel in a superb location with friendly staff.

Hotel is clean and looks nice but no USB in rooms no side lights in our room so we had to keep putting main big light on to turn TV over as couldn't see tv controls at night even with leaving bathroom light on all night. Breakfast was ok but nothing special, could also do with a bowl of fresh fruit and natural yoghurt as an option. Rooms could also do with a full length mirror. Would I stay here again yes but wouldn't be my first choice. Car parking £24 for 2 days cheaper to park across the road in Red Lion carpark.
