Otherwise a great hotel - clean, great location, good amenities, helpful staff, but our family had a difficult time with the outside noise being on level 1 and with busy restaurants immediately below and across the road, and no proper acoustical insulation (just double glassing thermal insulation). Would happily stay there again though if on upper floors.

For sure not a 4 star property, but it was comfortable enough for a few days. It looks like they updated the rooms recently, but some of the fixes were done very poorly. There was mold all around the bath with thick, poorly done caulking. Wall repairs were not done well. The towels very thin. Neither of the phones in the room worked and the frame to the pull out couch was broken (we didn’t even sleep on it). There’s only one TV remote that controls both TVs somehow and Netflix didn’t work, only YouTube. Then the front desk was suppose to call us a taxi for the day we left and he forgot, so another front desk the morning of our departure at 5am had to do it again. We weren’t offered or explained anything like how to send laundry or order breakfast so we just didn’t do it. We just got a key and he said “5th floor”. The evening front desk was usually cranky it seemed. We also didn’t get body wash, only hand soap, lotion, and shampoo. So we had to buy some. All in all we felt safe and there room was relatively clean besides the bath tub. Compared to other 4 star hotels ive stayed at recently in Amsterdam and Barcelona, this was not up to par. It’s more like a low grade 3 star. I wouldn’t stay there again, especially at that price.

Pros: - Wonderful location, bursting with friendly restaurants serving food from all over the world, gorgeous shops and minutes from lots of sights and connections. The pretty covered passages are filled with antique bookshops and curios and eateries - we could’ve stayed a week and not explored them all! - A clean, well appointed, thoughtfully designed room. Lovely bathroom, plenty of space for a close family of four and we were all really comfortable. Absolutely could’ve stayed longer. - Useful stuff nearby like a pharmacy opposite, plenty of little supermarkets. Cons: - Wi-fi was very patchy and unreliable - fine for a holiday but don’t plan to work from here! - If you have to sleep with the windows open, bring earplugs. If you don’t mind them closed, you’ll be fine. - There was a fire alarm on our first morning. All came down in our pyjamas and not a staff member in sight despite being told attendance was 24/7. Alarm stopped and we traipsed back up and nothing was said. Not sure what to think about that one.
