A wonderful location right on the banks of the loch the very friendly and knowledgeable staff made this a great stay. If you are interested in whisky or gin this is a treasure

An example of a below average hotel cashing in on a stunning location. We felt duped as our room (barn annexe) had a tiny window which made our room feel claustrophobic & dingy. DO NOT book room 19. Without a doubt the photo on the website is extremely deceptive! Their photo is taken from a very close up angle and it doesn’t accurately show the size of the window in relation to its aspect in the room. The window is in fact deeply recessed into the wall and lets in very little light. We estimate the actual glass of the window measured approximately 35cm x 15cm.To capture any view you need to crouch low as the window is probably only chest height and I suggest whoever took the photo was in fact crouching down and not standing up straight (unless it was taken by a child). All we ever expect is VALUE for our money when we book a hotel. On this occasion we did not get value for money and we felt thoroughly misled by the portrayal of the room on the website. We immediately aired our disappointment but it fell on deaf ears. From decades of experience with the hospitality industry, we know there are always small ways a disappointed guest can be placated. However, there was no attempt whatsoever to offer any goodwill. It was a case of “like it or lump it”. Unfortunately when one is left with a bitter taste, other flaws start to appear. Cobwebs were literally in every corner of our room and it was shabby and tatty. The common areas were OK. We left feeling we’d been tricked!
