The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was mostly clean and orderly. There was some sand in one of the beds that had not been cleaned from a previous guest. Everything else seemed fine (floors clean, TV works, bathroom was clean). Parking was not an issue. Air conditioner was a bit loud, but worked well. The grab-and-go breakfast was well stocked. Bagels, muffins, apple and orange juice, coffee, granola bars, apples and oranges. It was basic but adequate. My only complaint was that the chocolate milk, while still within the expiry date, was most definitely expired (i.e., curdled). It was not a one off either, we tried a few and they were all like that. Other than that, the stay was pretty much what we expected.

I recognize that Hanksville is central to every where and close to no where. I am amazed that there are any places to stay in this small town. When I visited I usually say at the Whispering Sands Hotel. From the outside the hotel doesn't look like much. However, the rooms have been remodel and are very good. It has a good set of TV channels and the Internet is really fast. The rooms are clean and well kept. What I like is there is a desk and chair there where I can set up and use my laptop. The area is very quiet and there is an excellent burger place next door. The burger place claims to have world famous shakes, they are good. They have a small pack-n-do breakfast which I appreciate. However, there is no pool or exercise room. When I return to Hanksville, I plan to stay at this hotel.
