Rooms aren’t cheap anywhere during Octoberfest. We like to stay downtown so we can walk to everything. This is the first time we stayed here and loved the chill river area in the evenings, great field to walk the fur baby and a super easy walk to downtown. The front staff were amazing. The room was very nice as expected. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Parking was easy and close, although this was off season (end of August) for Helen, Georgia and there were few people staying in town. Due to proximity to the river (flows by right at the end of the parking lot) there were two issues. There was a lot of sand on the carpeted hallway outside the rooms due to folks tracking it up the stairs from the river. You then tracked it into the room and the floor was sandy. If I had a broom I would have swept it myself. The second issue is there is very high humidity in the summer that the room air conditioner just can't keep up with. It feels like a swamp cooler inside the room. The bed sheets feel strangely damp even at 70 degrees. It was an uncomfortable feeling. The humidity gets into the room because you can see daylight around the door, so the room is not well-sealed. Complimentary breakfast was listed as having multiple choices of hot biscuits, bacon, egg and cheese or sausage. This is false advertising! you have to ask the desk personnel for a breakfast sandwich, and then they get you a frozen package that you have to microwave. Also, they only had two of the seven or eight choices available in their freezer which altogether was very disappointing. In summary, I would try to stay at a different place if I came back.
