The hotel has a long history and has been patronised by many famous people in the past. Being a listed building, there is limited scope to modernise. Some simple and basic attention to detail would not go amiss though - maybe think about checking the condition of the enamel of the bath - especially where new taps have been fitted, deep cleaning the shower head once in a while and confirming that the to works properly and has a good, watchable signal. If the room has no carpet, like mine did, make that clear to guests before they book. Moving around the room caused the floorboards to creak so much that I was nervous of disturbing other guests. The bed was very firm - ok for me, maybe not for everyone. The hotel doesn’t currently offer any food, so guests will need to get creative and make their own arrangements - particularly challenging if you’ve planned an early start or you arrive later in the evening. There is no bar, but plenty of pubs nearby. From the front door, one cannot immediately see reception - presumably that means that the staff cannot see arriving guests either. From the front door, there is also direct access to guest accommodation. If reception staff cannot see who is coming-in and there is direct access to accommodation, what’s to prevent casual break-ins?
